I thought that this month’s Weekend Warrior Challenge theme, Braveheart, was particularly appropriate for me. It’s definitely going to take a brave heart for me to reach my marathon goals this weekend. There’s a bunch of people doing this challenge this month, I’ll post a complete list below when the list gets finalized. There’s a ton of great fitness/weight loss bloggers on that list and I encourage you to click a few links! Make someone’s day, will you?
Anyway, here is my list of goals for the weekend warrior challenge:
- Complete my first marathon in under 4 hours.
- Have fun with the family at the kids annual 300m fun run.
- Eat well but eat a lot and not weigh more on Monday than I did on Saturday morning.
Wish me luck on Sunday. My bib number is 1423 if you want to track my progress during the race.

So 1423 is a very lucky number because Don Butterfield was born on January 4, 1923 – American tuba player. No I did not know this off of the top of my head, but if you are going to run 26.2 miles, I thought I could put in a moment to do some research. Good luck this weekend!

Thanks Beth! I’ll be sure to do the same when you post your bib number next week.
On the taper front, I’m feeling better. I read a little blurb in runner’s world about taper hypochondria. I’ve definitely got it. I feel every little bump and bruise and stiffness (not that you dirties) on my body. I’m just telling myself it’s my body healing up and getting ready. I think I’m actually starting to believe it.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
Good luck bro….love you!!! You’re gonna do awesome!!!
Thanks Al! I’m really excited. You’re the best!
Good Luck! Can’t wait for the story.
Best of luck! Some crazy things happen in taper. One time I had these vicious shooting pains in my calves… one time I was convinced I had a cold (which totally went away after the start). I alway lose confidence and start believing that I’ve gotten slower, not faster, during taper. You might not know how you really feel until mile four.
