Weekend Warrior Update

As the weekend comes to a close and I head out for my vacation to sunny Palm Springs, I thought I’d post a quick update on how the weekend warrior challenge went. If you recall, I set three goals for myself:

1. Exercise for at least 1 hour during the weekend.–No problem, ran 7 miles on Saturday night in 1:08 on the treadmill.

2. Weigh no more on Monday morning than I did on Saturday morning.–This one’s a little bit sketchy. I think I had an anomalous reading on Saturday morning of 168.5. There’s no way that I lost 3 pounds between Friday morning and Saturday morning, so I’m going to throw out the Friday and Saturday morning numbers and look at the other 5 mornings surrounding those days. All of them were 170.X and that’s what I weighed on Monday morning so I’m going to call it mission accomplished. It’s kind of chicken, I know. But there’s nothing really riding on this and I know that I didn’t really gain any weight over the weekend.

3. Limit my intake of refined/processed carbohydrates such as pastas, breads, tortillas, cookies, and crackers to 1 serving per day. A serving will be defined by the package, not by how much I actually eat!–I failed at this challenge. We went out to dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. I did pretty well during the day on Saturday with my carb intake, but did very poorly on Sunday.

So, I managed to accomplish 2 of my 3 goals which is nothing to be proud of. I think I’ll do this challenge again next week when I get back from my trip and make sure I nail it!

But I’m not the only one who participated in this challenge. Why don’t you head over to some of the other bloggers and check out who actually did meet their goals for the weekend. I bet they had better luck than I did.

Great work this weekend Mac – wasn’t it Meatloaf that said “2 out of 3 ain’t bad”?

Have a great time on your vacation!

It is good to see a guy that has sort of already met his goal still working. I think that this is the key to long term health
