So, you sat on the couch, drank the beer, and ate the chips and appetizers. Then, you rolled off the couch and headed to the table for a humongous turkey dinner with all the trimmings. You followed all that up with a repeat visit to the couch for some more football–and don’t forget the pie. Wasn’t that pie delicious? But something may have slipped your mind yesterday. Did you get your workout in? If you didn’t, you’re probably not alone.
Well, don’t feel guilty about what you did (or didn’t do) yesterday. Good food should be a part of memorable family gatherings. And–in my opinion–so should football. But remember, Thanksgiving was yesterday. Today is a different day, make sure that you make the most of it.
So take today by the horns. Get out of bed, and go for a run. Or head to the gym and pump some iron. Eat leftovers if you’ve got them, but eat them mindfully. Maybe skip the pie and think twice about the sweet potatoes with marshmallows and brown sugar.
Whatever you do, don’t let yesterday’s behavior become the habits of tomorrow.

I’m just glad I didn’t hurt myself this year. Last year I totally de-railed my fitness exploits with an Achilles injury during a Thanksgiving pickup football game. Fortunately, I didn’t rupture it, though it felt like I did.
