I told you that the only way that I can consistently lose weight is by keeping track of everything that I put in my mouth and by logging my weight every day.
I also told you that it doesn’t take long to reverse a trend of bad behavior as long as I’m committed to doing it.
The Weight Comes Off When I Work At It
It’s been 12 days since I got back on this horse. In that time, I haven’t missed a weigh in and I’ve done a really good (not perfect) job of logging my intake. Just to be completely honest, the consistent weigh ins and food logs were trying to make their way back into my life before 12 days ago. I would go a couple of days and then something would come up and I’d quit. So in reality, my weight gain probably stopped more than 12 days ago.
Needless to say, I am very pleased with the way I’ve roared back into the game. I’ve been logging meticulously again, and running a lot again, and as a result, the weight has come down again. Just under 2 pounds of average weight in the last 12 days. That’s a fairly rapid (for me), natural, sustainable weight loss rate that equates to just over a 500 calorie per day deficit.
The chart above shows just how consistent I’ve been in my weigh ins. Every morning when I wake up, I use the bathroom and then jump on the scale. It’s the first thing I do, no matter what. I don’t think it really matters when I do it, but the routine is what I’m after. I’m definitely a creature of habit.
30 Day Physics Diet Graph
Above is my 30 day physics diet graph. In case you were wondering, the evenly spaced red dots on the left side of the graph is the software interpolating missing weights from when I wasn’t weighing in daily. That’s why the slope of the graph is so consistent. Once I started weighing in daily again, the data points fluctuate a lot, but the average line (the blue one) has reversed its upward trend and is now on the right track. This graph is very powerful for me. If you’re a numbers and/or visual person who is trying to lose weight, I can’t recommend using physics diet enough. Give it a shot!

I am pursuing a vegan low carb diet, which is really working for me. I find Fitday.com to be an essential (and free!) tool to manage my diet. Not only does it help me track my foods, it also provides many useful reports, such as nutrtion, calories in vs calories out, weight graphs, etc.
Fitday has told me that I need to have a daily deficit of 900 or so calories (i currently weigh 330) to meet my long term goal. 5 out of 7 days, i eat the maximum calories to achieve this. the other 2 days, I eat a very low calorie day, usually under 1000 calories. This is really working for me, because part of the metabolism equation is caloric intake. I think we all know that consistently lowering calories will have an adverse effect on our metabolism. So by maxing my caloric intake and exercise and keeping active and having 1-2 very low calorie days, I am keeping my metabolism revved up, and still losing weight.
If you are starting to count calories, try Fitday.com.
Amen to that! It’s amazing, all you have to do is weigh yourself everyday and normally you start seeing green in your chart!
