Get Fit Slowly

How Quickly I Forget

I say it all the time. And I hope you guys are better listeners than I am. The everyday number on the scale isn’t as important as the long term average provided to me by physics diet!

The last few days, my weight has been up above 180 again. The few days before that, I was excited because it was down in the 178-179 range and I felt I was quickly gaining ground again. I went from being ecstatic to pissed off in about 36 hours and it’s so darn stupid!

I have nothing to be pissed off about. I’ve been exercising a ton (25 miles running last week and 3 walking rounds of golf). Most of the week, I ate well too. But we had family visiting and I tend to snack more, eat more desserts, and eat slightly unhealthier meals when we have visitors. I did track my intake as much as I could, but sometimes it’s just impossible and I have to use a best guess method which means I’m going to be underestimating my intake.

So mostly I’m writing this post to remind myself of the plan–the long term plan. Keep weighing yourself everyday. Get as much exercise as possible. Have more good days than bad. Focus on the good and don’t get hung up on the bad. Do this and the weight will go down and you’ll get healthier slowly–just like you’re supposed too. I promise it will work, just trust the system and things will be ok!

Great post. You’ve inspired me to get back on the weightloss wagon. My big mistake has been giving up the daily weigh-ins!

Just wanted to send you a huge “thank you” for introducing me to the physics diet site. I’m a numbers person, so it has really motivated me! Keep writing…you’re pretty motivating as well!

Are you convinced that daily weigh-ins are better than weekly? I weigh weekly and find that there’s much less of an emotional and mental roller coaster.

KristiB: If there’s one thing I’m convinced about it’s that I’m not convinced about anything! However, I do tend to keep my weight under control when I weigh in every day. I have found that I can do too much damage in a week’s time :)

I’ve learned to watch my weight change. I can be 49.9kg in the morning and then 51kg at night. But then it doesn’t really move out of this range very much. My BMI is 19.8 so I’m in a nice healthy weight range anyway.
