Wednesday Weekly Weigh In–4/15/09

by macdaddy on April 15, 2009 · 9 comments

I’m not sure if you guys are getting bored with my weekly progress reports.  But they are really working for me, so I’m going to keep going until my average weight gets down to 175.  Something about them helps to hold me accountable for what I put in my mouth and how much exercise I get.  Even with my Easter Dilemmas, I had a really good week.  Recovery running weeks seem to help me with my diet a little bit because I’m not famished from my runs, so it’s easier for me to stay on track with my calories for the day.  Case in point, I just got back from a hard 8-mile run and I’m famished!

Previous Weight:   183.3 lbs

Current Weight:     181.7 lbs

BF:                             22.0%

I’m also really proud to report that I’ve hit another ten pound milestone with this weigh in.  40 pounds down and about 5 more to go!  In October of 2007, I weight 221.8 pounds, today I’m 181.7.  Those 40 pounds are never coming back either.  I love the way I feel, the way my new clothes fit, the self confidence I’ve gained,  and the energy that I have.  I love being a good example for my kids–now they have two, instead of one–and I’m no longer a bad example for them to follow.  These things have made my hard work totally worth it and I never want to go back to the place where I used to be.

Mac,

I’m not bored with these status reports at all. In fact, it’s probably what I look forward to most in this blog.

Watching your progress is awesome because you’re a real guy making real changes and getting real results, not some wacked-out workout advertisement on tv or new craze diet.

Keep up the good work! The one week charts are great to see, but I always find myself wishing you’d extend that chart back to when you started using physics diet, just to see the Total progress you’ve made.

Nonetheless, this is awesome, good for you!

another ditto! I totally look forward to the Wednesday check-in. I would love to hear more about this timeline and how your progress is gone — do you have data for the whole time since Oct 2007? It is so great to have a realistic example to follow! Sometimes, I get depressed that I can’t lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks or less like the folks on biggest loser, and I keep reminding myself that these changes have to come slowly if I want them to stick.

ditto here too. Your getting it done and thats a inspiration. I am really interested in seeing how your bf% comes down too. I am currently 26-27% bf at 200 (6 foot). Really trying to get that % down so I can see some of the muscle I have worked for.

@Leah: I only have daily data since February of 2009. I have weekly weigh ins from earlier in the blog, but my daily data only became easy for me to use when I started using physicsdiet.com When things are easy, I stick to them.

@Ripx180: My body fat has dropped from 30 percent to under 22 percent since October of 2007. It’s not as low as I’d like it to be. In fact, after I get through this half marathon in May, I’m going to switch focus to fat burning and weight training instead of running as my main form of exercise. We’ll see how that goes.

@Dave: If you want, you can click on my physics diet profile (in the right sidebar) and view my graph for as far back as I’ve been recording the data.

I have been enjoying the status reports, and also the very methodical approach toward weight loss that you’re taking. It provides a different way to monitor weight loss than I’ve seen before! Great job, and keep up the healthy habits!

I love the status reports, too! Very inspiring. In that I’m like, Hey, I should be making such progress! They’re great, as are you.

Wow, congratulations…. I do appreciate your reports, actually since I suscribed to your RSS feed, I have been following your post more often. I as you, I am trying to lose the weight I have gained in the last 4 years, I used to be 172-180, also take in account I am 6’2″ tall, I like to look quite slender, now I am 232, and I was also 235 in 2005, then in 2007 I went down to 205 and I was impressed but all of the sudden last year my weight spiked up again, and today no matter what I do, I keep gaining, I go to the gym at least 5 times a week and I do high intensity cardio classes at least 4 of those days, burning about 800-1000 calories x class. I do weight also twice a week, and I have been changing my eating habits, but still very frustrated. I wish I could stick to something that works….. many people says to me, oh but you look good, granted yes I do, but I know how I feel, I am very tall and I have a belly… which I dont like..

Helppppp….

Thanks
