100 Pushups: Week Three, Day One

The pushups just keep on coming. Many of you are starting the third week of the one hundred pushup challenge. Others (like me) will be doing the second week. (If you’re starting or repeating the first week, go here.)

Here’s the schedule for those of you in the third week. Remember to pick the column based on your weekend exhaustion test.

And for those, like me, who are doing week two:

Update: I’m struggling to get out the door for the gym today. I’m in a writing groove, which has been a rare thing lately, and I’m afraid to take a break for spoiling the “flow”. Still, I took time to do my stretching and pushups. Though I managed to do second week middle column (9-8-6-4-10), I had hoped to feel stronger about my results. I only had five hours of sleep last night. I wonder if that makes a difference?

I did the exhaustion test after Week 2 last Friday and I couldn’t make it to the minimum requirement of 16 pushups. So, I’m repeating Week 2, but I moved up to the middle column!
I think that shows some signs of progress.

Today I learned that weightlifting (arms) and push-ups don’t mix well. I had the hardest time yet completing the sets (third column), but made it through. We’ll see what wednesday brings!

Last week wasn’t so hot for me, so I’m repeating it. 12/12/9/7/12.

Sleep, hydration, and diet are the focus this week.

Aye. Aye aye-aye… They never make chili in China. Sign me a 3rd verse that’s worse than the 1st verse and waltz me around til I willy.

3rd week Day 1 is rough! I think I’m hallucinating.

I must say that looking at the schedule for next week, I have no idea how I’m going to do that many pushups. Good grief…

I started week 3 day 1 today and after level 2 (the 2nd set) I figured out there was no way I was going to finish it. So I did the last three sets from Week 2 day 1 again and I’m just going to repeat week 2. Column 3 is tough. I guess I could have just dropped down to column 2 but I didn’t think of that until now.

I just finished today’s pushups. I am on week 3 day one (column one). Holy cow! Sooooooooooo much harder than last week. This week is really quite a step up. OK…a huge step up. I barely ekked them out and the last set was kind of pathetic. I did do the 15 on the last set but it was just barely and my last couple I am not sure I should have counted since the form wobbled a bit. Now I am all quivery. But the good news is that I did it, I guess. Will probably be quite sore tomorrow though.

    W2.2D1: 12, 12, 9, 7, 16 - felt alright.

+1 for the “you expect me to do WHAT, now?” factor of W3

Sonofabitch. I’m saying I did the 15 of the last set, even though I didn’t get all the way down and back up again on each one, but there ain’t no way 15 gold-standard pushups were happening.
Good thing I don’t need to use my arms for the rest of the evening.

I’m starting on day 1 of week 2 tonight. I’m in column too, like you. I’m dreading this and each subsequent week because, as you say, I have no idea how I’m going to do that many pushups.. ugh.

AHHH!!! This week is brutal. I will probably be repeating this week.

I did 16 in my exhaustion test last Saturday. My arms feel a bit numb from completing column one. My form was horrible in the last set too.

The increase was crazy. Still doing column 3 I did 25, 17,17, then I forgot I had another set to do so I maxed out at 28. After I checked the program I realized I missed a set. I waited 5 minutes then forced myself through 18more. I hurt still today.

Yeah, this was a steep step-function week! I did 30 on my exhaustion test Sunday, so, did righthand column tonight.

Holy schnikies! W3D1: 25,17,17,barely 15,barely 22. (Was supposed to max out at least at 25, but there was no way…and I’m even having trouble typing this right now.) D2 should be interesting…sheesh.

I had been eliminating one set of dumbbell presses and was having no problem with the push ups.

Today I tried doing all of my sets of dumbbell presses and barely made it through the push ups.

Since my goal is to be able to do these push ups while on vacation and away from my weights, I will go back to eliminating a set of presses on Friday to see if I can have better results with the push ups.

Wow, this has been quite a jump from week 2 to 3. Not a successful first day.
