But first a small update. It seems as if I might be over the hump. My mom’s here spending some time with us, meaning I have a little more free time than usual. So I’ve been running and going to the gym. Yesterday, I had an awesome workout–the kind that you feel like you could just keep going forever. I’m a little sore today, but I feel good. The scale said 195.6 yesterday but is up a little bit this morning. I’m getting recharged and de-stressed and it feels nice. I also (finally) joined the Get Fit Slowly We Endure group and inputted all of my running for April. To J.D. about May, I say bring it on. Now, on to the links for the weekend.
Diet Survey: Men eat meat, women eat veggies–Go Figure! Based on my home life, I already knew this, but the tidbit I liked the best was that men were also more likely to eat “risky” foods such as runny eggs and undercooked meats. Women tended to only eat one risky food and that was alfalfa sprouts. I’ll stick to the rare burger thanks.
To Stretch or Not to Stretch? The Answer Is Elastic–It seems that the jury is still out on whether or not stretching prevents injury. However, it is pretty evident that it makes you more flexible. The interesting part about this article talked about the difficulty of doing research on stretching because it’s hard to get control groups to NOT stretch due to the fact that stretching is so ingrained in the culture of people who workout. All I know is stretching feels good–sometimes–and so I’ll keep doing it.
NYC’s calories-on-menus law upheld–The New York City law that makes restaurant chains with more than 15 franchises nationally post calorie counts on their menu boards goes into effect this week. This article is awesome. I really think that if people who were conscious of what they ate had these numbers, they would make better choices. Those of us who don’t care won’t be affected by them. Of course the restaurants are balking, except Wendy’s? I like it and have another idea in the works for a post on this coming up.
Have a great weekend.

I love that NYC ruling. I wish it applied here in NZ.

I wish every state had that rule. Most fast food chains have a hand out, but they never seem to have copies and the print is VERY small when they do have copies.
